GDTP Certification Holders
Here is what ASME GDTP Certificate Holders have to say.....
"....Because of its benefits, GDTP Certification, to the Technologist level at least, is now a long-term requirement for Intel Design Group members."
K.F., ATD Design Group Manager Intel Corp. Phoenix, AZ
"I have the responsibility to maintain a standards system conforming to and compliant with industry standards, military standards, and specific customer standards and requirements. I'm pleased to say that the credential provided by the Senior Level Certification has enhanced my ability to perform as a manager and has supported my role as dimensional mentor within my company and beyond to the supply chain. Certification provides that extra level of credibility that lets me be heard above the voices of others addressing dimensional problems and allows me the right to enforce proper application of standards in the derived solutions. Although I have many years of GD&T experience and proudly display certificates of training from highly respected trainers in the industry, GDTP certification has netted me more respect when dealing with dimensioning and tolerancing than any other certificate in my collection. I sincerely appreciate the certification program, and thank the ASME for making it available."
D.D., Engineering Manager Engines, Systems and Services Honeywell International Inc. Phoenix, AZ
"I originally sought the ASME GDTP Certification because one of my company's major customers decided to make it a requirement of doing business with them. I was already fairly knowledgeable in GD&T at the time, but preparation for the exam expanded my core understanding significantly. I am a GD&T instructor for the Pittsburgh section of ASQ, and having the certification greatly enhanced my credibility. I truly believe that more companies have solicited GD&T instruction via ASQ because my certification firmly established my qualifications. My certification is an asset to me, one that I am proud to say I have."
G.R., CMC Inc. Warren Dale, PA
"We design and manufacture aerospace products for various airplane companies. My job as Manufacturing Engineer is to produce these products at the lowest possible cost and meet quality and delivery requirements. Prior to being certified my inputs on design configurations for manufacturability and inspect- ability were met with opposition, possibly because of my educational background in GD&T and no credentials to back up my requests. Ever since I became certified we have changed our design concepts, reduced costs on development programs, and met quality and delivery requirements, which increases our competitive edge. Certification has also helped me personally. I have also advanced in my career with several promotions, with the latest promotion as Manager of Manufacturing Engineering. I feel that my efforts on achieving Senior Level Certification were a major turning point for our company and me personally and professionally. Please feel free to post any or all information provided. Sincerely, Brian A. Peterson."
B.P., Manager of Manufacturing Engineering MOOG Aircraft Group Salt Lake City, UT
"I considered the GDTP certification a must for my business. After all, I teach people how to use the Y14.5M standard for a living! That fact notwithstanding, I have worked in and for companies who have used GD&T correctly, and I have been at places where they did not. Truly leading-edge companies recognize that the best possible way to be as efficient as possible is to use GD&T correctly. One of my clients claims a $50 - 60K savings per year just due to one change on one datum reference (that they learned from my class). The standard is complex, and the GDTP Certification is a recognition of one's understanding of its complexity."
M.F., President Applied Geometrics South Lyons, MI
"Since becoming certified, I published an article on GD&T that was distributed to the unigraphics users worldwide. That article resulted in many requests for my full white paper. I was able to answer many technical questions and promote the Y14 series of standards. In addition, I was invited on-site to provide formal consulting for two large companies. My first exposure to GD&T was in 1967 just after the Y14.5 -1966 had been published proclaiming the concept of datums. I worked in a large aerospace company at the time. Audio cassettes had been introduced and I attended my first formal class, using the "high-tech" audio cassettes media at Coors metrology in Golden Colorado. My certification was instrumental in landing my "dream" job: World-Wide Quality Assurance Advocate and Manager of Central Quality."
W.R. Sundyne Corp. Arvada, CO
"It's a feeling of great pride to obtain my Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Certification and share this knowledge and experience with my students. I hope by sharing this knowledge it will expand and improve the understanding and application of GD&T in the future."
R.E., Associate Professor CAD Drafting Tool Design Program Ferris State University Big Rapids, MI
"I decided to take the Senior Level exam so that I could gain the confidence to teach GD&T at my company. Since that time, I've taught about six classes (5 days long each). In large part because of the exam (and preparing for it) I have become the defacto expert in GD&T at Medrad. I have taught approx 75 people in the three or four years after the certification and am requested to provide input and expertise on virtually all products being developed. Providing this input has become one of my yearly objectives and providing new classes are constantly requested of me by peers."
B.P., Senior Mechanical Engineer Medrad, Inc. Pittsburgh, PA
